This extremely detailed image of the sun was shot with the Extreme Ultraviolet Imager (EUI) by the solar orbiter. You can really see the electromagnetic fields and some sun flares in the image. It is quite an amazing image and I knew it would look good as a cyanotype. The image was processed with a large film using the cyanotype process. The paper was hand coated, processed and rinsed. The unique properties of the blue are the effect of the UV light interacting with the iron based solution converting it chemically to a rich deep permanent blue. Artwork is printed on French Arches watercolor paper. Measures: 43”. 44.5”
